Add Adam Baldwin to the list of Firefly actors being recruiting by fellow co-star Nathan Fillion.
Keeping in line with the recent rend, Fillion posted a brief video in which he approaches Adam Baldwin for a mysterious project.
"Saw this coming," Baldwin says after answering the door. "It's about what I think it's about, huh?"
"It's about what you're thinking about," responds Fillion.
Well, okay then.
We still don’t know exactly what this is leading to. However, we do know that some kind of announcement is planned for Sunday, March 15.
Over the past few days, lead actor Nathan Fillion has been posting cryptic videos on social media showing him visiting several of his former Firefly castmates, including Jewel Staite, Summer Glau, Morena Baccarin, Sean Maher, and Gina Torres.
The mysterious posts have sparked plenty of speculation among fans, but Fillion has already shut down several popular theories.
“Some of you have guessed convention, podcast, or cross-over. You are wrong,” he confirmed earlier this week.
Created by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Firefly blended futuristic science fiction with classic Western storytelling. The result was a unique space-opera with a rugged frontier feel.
The series stars Nathan Fillion as Captain Malcolm Reynolds, a former soldier who fought on the losing side of a devastating civil war. Now operating as a smuggler and captain of the transport ship Serenity, Mal leads a small but loyal crew as they try to make a living on the outer edges of a vast interplanetary society. Set in the year 2517, after humanity has colonized a distant star system, the story follows the crew of Serenity as they drift between worlds taking on whatever work they can find.
Adam Baldwin played Jayne Cobb in the series. A mercenary and hired gun, Jayne is the muscle of the crew, best recognized for his iconic knit hat.
Despite its rich world-building and memorable characters, Firefly had a notoriously short run. The series aired on Fox for just 11 episodes between September and December 2002 before being canceled due to a combination of low ratings and scheduling issues. The franchise was given a second life in 2005 with the theatrical film Serenity, which served as both a continuation of the series and a partial conclusion to the crew’s story.
In the years since its cancellation, Firefly has grown into one of television’s most beloved cult classics. Despite being off the air for more than 20 years, the series has endured thanks to its passionate fanbase. Now, with much of the crew of Serenity seemingly coming back together, excitement is building among fans that the show could finally return in some form.
What are you hoping the March 15th announcement will be?
