For months, rumours swirled that Ahsoka would feature a meeting between Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano in the World Between Worlds. The closing moments of last week's episode, "Fallen Jedi," confirmed those, but it sounds like some changes to the sequence have been made since those reports first surfaced.
Despite a great deal of chatter about this episode featuring several What If...?-style sequences which introduce the concept of a Star Wars "Multiverse," a recent podcast featuring scoopers from Making Star Wars and Bespin Bulletin claims otherwise.
Apparently, the Mustafar scene which was to pit Ahsoka against Anakin in a redo of Revenge of the Sith is gone. We're assuming it was shot but, for whatever reason, it's no longer going to be part of the show's highly anticipated fifth episode.
Claims of Anakin being a "Mortis God" are also said to be wrong, while past reports that Savannah Steyn is playing a young Ahsoka have been deemed similarly inaccurate. Instead, Barbie and Avengers: Infinity War star Ariana Greenblatt supposedly takes on that role in flashbacks exploring the character's past.
Yes, rather than a glimpse into the Multiverse, it seems we should expect to revisit Ahsoka's history (something it's hard to complain about when it likely means we'll get a live-action take on The Clone Wars). There's not long to go until we find out, anyway.
Some incredible new stills from "Fallen Jedi" have been released today, showcasing epic lightsaber action and Hayden Christensen's return as Anakin. You can see those below.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.
The first four episodes of Ahsoka are now streaming on Disney+.
