AHSOKA: Here's Why The New Trailer We Were Promised Wasn't Released Last Weekend As Planned

We'd expected a new trailer for Ahsoka to be released last weekend, but it was nowhere to be seen. We have an explanation, and if you weren't a fan of Twitter before, you won't be now, that's for sure...

Last week, we told you about plans for a new Ahsoka trailer to be released during Disney's Essence Fest event. It was officially confirmed beforehand that fresh footage was heading our way, making it all the more surprising when the weekend came and went and we got...nothing.

Bespin Bulletin has since shared an explanation, revealing that issues with Twitter were the main reason Disney and Lucasfilm delayed the teaser.

As you may have heard, the latest round of changes made by Elon Musk in order to further monetize the platform saw the app become near-unusable, with the number of Tweets non-paying users could see drastically limited. Crashes were commonplace and it seems Disney decided it wasn't worth dropping a trailer for one of its most highly anticipated upcoming Star Wars TV shows amid the chaos.

We don't currently know what the Ahsoka footage shown to those actually at the event contained. A press release only mentioned the debut of a "sneak peek," and as of now, we have no idea when this footage will be released (Twitter's issues haven't entirely been fixed).

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23.

@DevilsDreams - I can absolutely see some executive being this near sighted.

I never use Twitter; and I sincerely hope the Musk controversies end our culture’s codependency of Twitter. Cancel culture, the trends, all derived off one platform? I know it won’t stop, but why on earth were we only taking ONE source of information? It’s like Josh’s endless “controversy” articles, controversy being 2 Tweets from nobodys. And yet no articles based on controversy found in comments. It’s almost like comments, and Twitter, are filled with BS.
