The cast and crew of Ahsoka were unable to promote the show while it was streaming on Disney+ due to the strikes, but they are now free to discuss the Star Wars series, and Vanity Fair has published an in-depth piece on The Mandalorian spin-off and what the future holds for the characters who were first introduced in the animated corner of the galaxy far, far away.

The biggest reveal is that writer/showrunner Dave Filoni is now Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm, meaning he will have a lot more say in the development of new big and small screen projects as he works more directly with Kathleen Kennedy to oversee the next generation of Star Wars shows and movies.

“In the past, in a lot of projects I would be brought into it, I would see it after it had already developed a good ways,” he says of his new role. "It’s opened up to basically everything that’s going on. When we’re planning the future of what we’re doing now, I’m involved at the inception phase.”

“I’m not telling people what to do,” Filoni continued. “But I do feel I’m trying to help them tell the best story that they want to tell. I need to be a help across the galaxy here, like a part of a Jedi Council almost.”

Filoni is still set to take the helm of a Star Wars movie that will serve as a culmination of the various Disney+ shows (the ones that take place in the same timeline, at least), but will we get a second season of Ahsoka in the meantime? The report notes that it seems all-but "assured," but nothing has been made official yet.

Star Rosario Dawson sounds pretty confident that another season will happen, however.

“I mean, they've not said anything officially, but I remember when we were at Star Wars Celebration in London and they were like, 'We're giving Dave a movie!' And I was like, 'I kind of feel like that means we're probably going to get a second season.' For a while now, and especially now with the strike and everything, no one can say anything. But he did say he was working on an outline. So, we'll see.”

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.

Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.
