A few months ago, Andor showrunner Tony Gilroy confirmed he'd finished writing Andor season 2 before the WGA strike began. That meant production on the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story spin-off was able to begin as planned, though SAG-AFTRA members have also since hit the picket lines.

The latest update suggested at least part of Andor remains in production at Pinewood Studios without SAG-AFTRA cast members.

The actors still working on the Star Wars series are likely part of the British acting union Equity. They haven't called for strike action and previously warned its members they risk being sued for breach of contract if they walk off set in solidarity with their American colleagues.

However, with many of Andor's leads now unavailable, Mail Online is reporting that one of the show's sets has just been torn down in Buckinghamshire, England.

It appears to be a remote homestead of some sort, and the site believes this season 2 location was temporarily left abandoned as a result of the SAG-AFTRA strike. Now, the buildings are being demolished, no great surprise when actors are expected to remain on strike until 2024 unless the situation is unexpectedly resolved sooner.

We'll see, but the fact these sets are being pulled down suggests Disney and Lucasfilm don't anticipate returning to work for the foreseeable future. Here's hoping that doesn't result in a release date delay.

Season 2 of Andor will play out across four three-episode blocks, with a year passing between each of them. Despite a slow start to the first season, it's since come to be regarded as the best Star Wars TV series, meaning there's a lot of excitement for the show's return.

Andor season 2 is currently set to premiere on Disney+ in August 2024.
