Rumors have been swirling for quite a while now that Disney+'s latest live-action Star Wars series, Ahsoka, would feature a younger take on the title character, and we may now know who'll be playing her.
This actually originated on Reddit, which is by no means the most reliable source, but this particular poster does have a solid track record, and his report has since been back up by MakingStarWars.
Apparently, Ariana Greenblatt, who played the young Gamora in Avengers: Endgame and more recently appeared in Barbie, is set to play the younger incarnation of the fan-favorite Force-wielder in this week's fifth episode.
“We walk into a very weird thing here in that I have two sources on this and we have that Reddit leaker thing, and we’ve heard this now, who is playing the part [of young Ahsoka]," MakingStarWars said on his YouTube show. "So, just to be fair, I have also heard that the Redditor leaked it to a Discord chat that it was the girl from Barbie, right? Ariana Greenblatt. I can back that up. The girl from Barbie, Greenblatt, is the young Ahsoka. Some people were like, ‘don’t say who it is’, but it’s already out there and we can just double down on it.”
We don't have much more to go on, but Tuesday's episode is said to include either flashbacks or an alternate reality retelling of the events of The Clone Wars, which means we will Ilkley see Ahsoka as "Snips" alongside her former master, Anakin Skywalker.
We won't have long to wait before finding out if this rumor is accurate, as episode five of Ahsoka streams tomorrow night. For now, you can check out some new artwork below.
Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.
The series stars Rosario Dawson in the title role, with Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, with Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.
Kevin Kiner was announced as the series' composer.
Ahoska is written by executive producer Dave Filoni, alongside executive producers Favreau, Kennedy, Wilson, and Beck. Gilchrist is co-executive producer. The series’ directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel and Rick Famuyiwa.
