Is Dave Filoni's STAR WARS Movie Really Titled HEIR TO THE EMPIRE? A New Report Claims Otherwise...

After a sequel trilogy that split opinions, Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni have arguably saved the Star Wars franchise (and mostly united a divided fanbase) on Disney+.

Telling stories which take place roughly five years after the events of Return of the Jedi, The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett have explored the early days of the New Republic and what became of the Empire after Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader's respective deaths.

The first time Rosario Dawson played Ahsoka Tano, we learned that she was hunting for Thrawn, the villainous Grand Admiral who vanished at the end of Star Wars Rebels alongside Ezra Bridger.

Lars Mikkelsen will reprise his villainous role in Ahsoka, with the expectation being that the show will lay the groundwork for Filoni's eventual movie (where Thrawn will be the lead villain).

Earlier this week, it was reported that the project will be titled Star Wars: Heir to the Empire. Borrowing the name of the Timothy Zahn novel that first introduced the villain, Thrawn was referred to as "Heir to the Empire" in the Ahsoka trailer, so it made sense.

However, insider Jeff Sneider has hit back with his own scoop, claiming the movie will not be called Heir to the Empire after all.

This has now become a he said/he said situation, and we won't find out who is right until an official announcement is made. Given Lucasfilm's track record, that's probably a long way off. Still, with Filoni at the helm, we're a little more confident the movie will actually happen!

A new spin on the Heir to the Empire storyline would be welcomed by fans, particularly if it means we finally see Mara Jade (Luke Skywalker's eventual wife in the Expanded Universe) in live-acton, for example.

We'll keep you updated as more on the upcoming Star Wars movie is revealed.
