OBI-WAN KENOBI Disney+ Premiere Date Revealed; Poster Shows First Look At Ewan McGregor's Ben Kenobi

Lucasfilm has confirmed today that Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on May 25. May 4 would have made a lot more sense in the eyes of many fans - it is Star Wars Day, after all - but that would have forced Marvel Studios' Moon Knight to stream two episodes back-to-back at some point and given no real breathing space between the two shows.

It's also been announced that this is a "limited series," meaning it's a one-off and not the first of many Obi-Wan adventures to arrive on Disney+. There's always a chance the iconic Jedi Master could return elsewhere, of course, but this feels like it could be a farewell to the role for Ewan McGregor.

Only time will tell on that front, but a new poster shows us the actor on Tatooine as "Ben" Kenobi.

The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Obi-Wan Kenobi faced his greatest defeat—the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, who turned to the dark side as evil Sith Lord Darth Vader.

The series also marks the return of Hayden Christensen in the role of Darth Vader. Joining him and McGregor in the cast are Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell and Benny Safdie.

Obi-Wan Kenobi is executive-produced by Kathleen Kennedy, Michelle Rejwan, Deborah Chow, Ewan McGregor and Joby Harold.
