STAR WARS: SKELETON CREW Reportedly Pushed To 2024; Other Shows Possibly Facing Delays

This was probably inevitable given the ongoing Hollywood strikes, and it seems Lucasfilm has decided to push at least one of the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars shows into next year...

Some disappointing news for Star Wars fans here, as one of the more highly-anticipated Disney+ shows set in the Galaxy Far, Far Away may have been hit with a (potentially) lengthy delay.

According to Bespin Bulletin, Skeleton Crew, which was created by Jon Watts (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Christopher Ford (Spider-Man: Homecoming), has been pushed into next year. Though no official premiere date had been announced, the series was tentatively scheduled to debut before the end of 2023.

Though the source doesn't have any specific details, he does mention that Skeleton Crew could be delayed by a full year, which means it may not arrive on our screens until November or December of 2024.

Due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the status of Lucasfilm's live-action Star Wars shows is said to be "flux and fluid," which means other projects currently scheduled for 2024 such as The Acolyte and the second season of Andor could also be delayed.

Skeleton Crew will follow a group of kids who leave the relative safety of their home planet to explore the galaxy, and wind up being captured by a crew of pirates led by the villainous Vane (who recently debuted as one of Captain Gorian Shard's men in season 3 of The Mandalorian). Jude Law's unnamed character comes to the rescue, but the children may not be quite as safe with this mysterious Jedi(?) as we've been led to believe.

“They need guidance, but they’re vulnerable,” Law told Empire in a recent interview. “And so throughout, the people they meet, you question all of them. Is my character nice? Is he not? You just want them to be alright and get back home. But if you know Jon and Chris’ work, you’ll know that the kids aren’t always safe.”

Law went on to describe his character as "complicated," while hinting that he may not be a Jedi after all despite demonstrating force-like abilities in the teaser.

The show also stars Ravi Cabot-Conyers, Kyriana Kratter Robert Timothy Smith and Ryan Kiera Armstrong and the young heroes, with Tunde Adebimpe and Kerry Condon on board in supporting roles. The directing team consists of Watts, Ford, David Lowery, the Daniels, Jake Schreier, Bryce Dallas Howard, and Lee Isaac Chung.

Bespin Bulletin is usually pretty reliable, but we'll have to take this as a rumor for the time being. Stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for updates.
