The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison has already expressed his disappointment about not being part of The Mandalorian's third season. According to the actor, he was initially asked to appear, only to never receive a follow-up call from Lucasfilm.
After revealing he "was waiting for the phone call in New Zealand, waiting and wanting to give up," it's clear Morrison was unhappy with how he was snubbed, particularly after Din Djarin was heavily inserted into his spin-off series.
Now, his The Book of Boba Fett co-star Ming-Na Wen (who plays Fennec Shand) has shared her own disappointment over being absent from The Mandalorian season 3.
"Sometimes when you take something out of context, it sounds worse than it is," she tells The Movie Dweeb of Morrison's recent remarks. "I think we love our characters so much, that any time we can reprise and be that character - especially someone like me, right, Fennec Shand is my dream role - so of course you're gonna feel disappointed."
"Like, 'Why didn't they have me put on my outfit and get into the battle with everyone?' So I think that's sort of the disappointment, but at the same time we both totally understand and respect Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni's process and what they need to do in their storytelling."
"So it's just - yeah, we're greedy," Wen concludes. "I know I am, I would love to be in every single Star Wars project at this point from now on!"
That's a far more diplomatic answer, and as great as it would have been to see Fett and Shand appear in The Mandalorian's latest batch of episodes, there wasn't really room for them. Tatooine's new daimyo doesn't consider himself a Mandalorian, so why would he join Din and company on Mandalore short of doing his old pal a favour?
The characters will no doubt cross paths again somewhere down the line, though we recently learned that Morrison will likely play a key role in Ahsoka.
As always, keep checking back here for updates.
