A continuation of the Scott Bakula/Dean Stockewell time travel '80s series, Hudson is going to be playing Herbert "Magic" Williams, a Vietnam veteran and now the head of project Quantum Leap. He has to step in to distract the military for as long as he can after Dr. Ben Seong (Robert Lee) has disappeared during experiments being conducted in time travel.

While this hasn't been confirmed as of yet, it would seem that Williams will take the part of Stockwell's Al Calavicci, reaching out holographically through the decades to Seong, who is apparently trapped in the late 1980s.

Hudson has an extensive acting background, including the first two and most recent entries in the Ghostbusters film saga, and HBO's prison drama Oz. Currently he stars and executive produces BET's The Family Business and will be featured in the third season of City on a Hill airing on Showtime.

Created by Donald Bellisario, the original Quantum Leap aired on NBC from 1989 to 1993, and enjoys an extremely strong cult following to this day. There had been rumors of previous reboots, but nothing concrete has happened until now. It seems that there's hope that Scott Bakula will be involved in some capacity.

No word yet on when the new Quantum Leap will be making its premiere on the network and, eventually on the Peacock streaming service.
