The crew of the Serenity has been assembled. With the latest Instagram post on Wednesday, Nathan Fillion has recruited Alan Tudyk for whatever mysterious Firefly announcement will be made this week.
Like the previous videos posted over the past couple of weeks, Fillion walks up to the home and is greeted by Tudyk.
"So, I'm not going to do this without you," Fillion says, referring to whatever this mysterious project will be. "So, are you in?"
Obviously, he is.
Tudyk plays Hoban "Wash" Washburne in Firefly. He's the ship's slap-happy pilot, known for his humor and toy dinosaurs. "It's not bobbleheads..." the caption reads, referring to Washburne's two plastic dinosaurs he keeps on the console.
"Announcing this Sunday," the caption continues, referring to the big announcement that will be made on Sunday, March 15th.
With Tudyk joining in, all of the surviving main cast of Firefly — Ron Glass (Shepher Book passed away in 2016 — have now been accounted for and are ready for whatever big thing Nathan Fillion has planned.
Here's a quick look at the previous videos posted with Adam Baldwin (Jayne Cobb), Jewel Staite (Kaylee Fry), Summer Glau (River Tam), Sean Maher (Simon Tam), Morena Baccarin (Inara Serra), and Gina Torres (Zoe Washburne).
There's been all sorts of speculation as to what could be coming, but Fillion has already ruled out some popular theories. "Some of you have guessed convention, podcast, or cross-over. You are wrong," he confirmed in a previous post.
The most exciting theory is, of course, a Firefly revival or continuation. Many fans are hoping for a new or limited series, or possibly even a movie, continuing the story after Serenity. Thankfully, we don't have to wait too much longer to find out. The announcement will be made at some point on Sunday, March 15th. Hopefully, it's made early in the morning so we aren't sitting around all day refreshing Instagram.
Despite its brief run — just 11 episodes airing between September and December 2002 — Firefly has developed a devoted fanbase and is now widely regarded as a cult classic. If there was ever any doubt, the excitement surrounding this announcement proves just how passionate its fans remain.
