The news broke back in January that Legendary Pictures had decided to continue the adventures of Godzilla and his fellow Titans on the small screen, and the live-action Apple TV+ series has now enlisted a director.
Variety reports that WandaVision helmer Matt Shakman will direct the first two episodes and serve as an executive producer on the show. The project still doesn't have an official title, but is currently being referred to as Godzilla and The Titans.
In addition WandaVision, Shakman has worked on Hulu’s The Great, HBO's Game of Thrones, Prime Video's The Boys, and more. He is also set to direct the new Star Trek movie that's currently in the works at Paramount.
We don't have a whole lot to go on when it comes to plot details just yet, but a brief logline tells us: "Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the series explores one family's journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch."
This won't mark the end of the MonsterVerse on the big screen, however, as Godzilla vs. Kong director Adam Wingard is still said to be in talks to helm the next movie, which is expected to focus on the Son of Godzilla.
