Pluribus became Apple TV's most-watched series of all time following its debut last November, but the wait for Season 2 has been frustratingly long. Fortunately, it sounds like production on the next season of Vince Gilligan's acclaimed sci-fi drama is finally about to get underway.
Series star Rhea Seehorn, who plays Carol Sturka, has confirmed that filming on the second season will begin "very soon," while teasing that the first script is already "absolute bananas."
Speaking to Deadline on the red carpet at a special Academy Museum event, Seehorn revealed that she's preparing to return to work on the series.
"I'm leaving very soon to shoot season 2," Seehorn confirmed.
Asked what she's most looking forward to about returning, the actress pointed to reuniting with the cast and crew, particularly Gilligan, whom she previously worked with on Better Call Saul.
"My family. My second family. My family away from home. And being able to work with Vince again. His scripts are always the hardest thing I've ever done, and the best thing I've ever done," the actress continued.
While Seehorn wasn't willing to reveal anything about where the story is headed, she did offer an intriguing tease about the season premiere.
"I have script one, it's all I have, and it is bananas. It is absolute bananas," she teased.
Her comments line up with a production timeline Gilligan shared last month. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, the Breaking Bad creator revealed that filming was expected to begin in late October or early November.
"We got the first two scripts. We won't be starting shooting until about beginning of November, late October," Gilligan explained at the time.
The update should come as welcome news for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the show's return, particularly after the many unanswered questions left by the Season 1 finale.
Pluribus follows Carol Sturka, a novelist who finds herself among the few people immune to a mysterious phenomenon that transforms nearly all of humanity into a peaceful, seemingly happy collective consciousness. While the rest of the world embraces its newfound harmony, Carol remains determined to uncover the truth behind it.
The series premiered in November 2025 and quickly became a massive success for Apple TV, earning widespread critical acclaim and several major awards.
Although filming is now approaching, Apple TV has yet to announce a premiere date for Season 2. Given the show's production demands, fans may still have a considerable wait before Carol's story continues.
The first season of Pluribus is currently streaming on Apple TV.
