Pop megastar/actress Nicki Minaj is set to lead the voice cast of upcoming animated series, Lady Danger, which is based on the Dark Horse comic book of the same name by Alex de Campi.
Minaj will also executive produce alongside Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson under his G-Unit Film & TV banner, as well as Brian Sher, and Paul Young & Mike Griffin for Make Good Content.
Starburns Industries will handle the animation, and the show is expected to premiere on the Amazon Freevee streaming service.
Written by executive producers Carlton Jordan and Crystle Roberson, Lady Danger is set in the year 2075 and follows "a government field agent who is left for dead by her team after discovering a dangerous secret, only to be resurrected as Lady Danger, an afrofuturistic ass-kicking Agent of B.O.O.T.I (Bureau of Organized Terrorism Intervention), who must conceal her true identity while she fights villains who are destroying the earth and its vulnerable inhabitants."
Minaj is no stranger to animated acting roles, having previously provided the voice for characters in Ice Age: Continental Drift and The Angry Birds Movie 2. She's also made live-action appearances in Barbershop: The Next Cut and The Other Woman.
Lady Danger is a relatively obscure comic, but it does have a loyal fanbase, and Minaj's involvement is sure to put this animated adaptation on a lot of radars.
