Joining Fisher will be Charlie Hunnam, Djimon Hounson, Doona Bae, Sofia Boutella, Jena Malone, Staz Nair, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang and E. Duffy.

Netflix, pleased with the sucess of their last collaboration with Snyder, Army of the Dead, signed him to a first-look deal, and Rebel Moon obviously appealed to them. The setting is a remote and peacful colony located towards the edge of the galaxy. The people there find their existence threatened by Balisarius, a maniacal regent. To handle the situation, a woman with a mysterious past is tasked with traveling to different nearby worlds to recruit warriors willing to go into battle.

Taking a step away from the real world obviously hasn't been a problem for Snyder as a filmmaker. Needless to say, he launched the DCEU with Man of Steel (2013), introducing the world to Henry Cavill as Superman; and followed that up with Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), which pit Cavill against Ben Afflecks's Batman, while introducing Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman. Then there was his version of Justice League, which was scrapped by Warner Bros and for which Joss Whedon was brought in to shoot alternative footage. Snyder has his vindication when HBO Max premiered the four-hour critically-acclaimed "Snyder Cut" of Justice League last year. Added into his directorial mix are the aforementioned Army of the Dead and the fantasy Sucker Punch. I

It will be interesting to see what he brings to the sci-fi genre with Rebel Moon
