After a tumultuous journey through the streaming seas, the nautical fantasy series Nautilus has found a new port of call at AMC and AMC+, set to premiere on June 29th.

For those just surfacing, the ten-episode series, a lavish production helmed by Paramount, was originally charted by Disney+ back in 2023. All episodes were filmed, promising a deep dive into a fantastical world inspired by the classic tales of adventure beneath the waves.

However, due to shifting tides in Disney+'s streaming strategy and a focus on cost-cutting measures, the platform made the difficult decision to vault several completed projects, including the highly anticipated Nautilus, alongside others like the Willow series and passing on The Spiderwick Chronicles.

Undeterred, Paramount set about re-navigating the waters to find a new home for their ambitious project. Interestingly, U.K. audiences got a sneak peek at the underwater escapades when Nautilus previously launched on Prime Video on October 25th, 2024.

This left North American fans of Jules Verne's Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas yearning for their own chance to embark on this journey.

Now, nearly two years after its initial acquisition, North American viewers' patience is finally being rewarded. AMC and AMC+ have thrown a lifeline to Nautilus, giving this captivating series a second chance to make waves.

To further stoke the excitement, a first teaser trailer has finally dropped, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the fantastical world and the adventures that await beneath the surface.

In a previously released press statement, AMC Networks originals EVP Ben Davis remarked, "Nautilus is a big, sweeping drama that is sure to appeal to fans of our Anne Rice Immortal Universe and other buzzy and fan-forward series like Orphan Black: Echoes."

Series creator James Dormer added, "I am hugely excited that the efforts of everyone involved in the making of the show will be seen on such a prestigious network.”

In the U.K.-based series, Nemo is, "an Indian Prince robbed of his birth right and family, a prisoner of the East India Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces which have taken everything from him. But once he sets sail with his ragtag crew on board the awe-inspiring Nautilus, he not only battles with his enemy, he also discovers a magical underwater world."

Shazad Latif is starring as Nemo and is joined by Georgia Flood as Humility Lucas and Thierry Frémont as Gustave Benoit. The show also stars Pacharo Mzembe, Arlo Green, Tyrone Ngatai, Ling Cooper Tang, Andrew Shaw, Ashan Kumar, Céline Menville and Kayden Price rounding out the cast.

Nautilus will be released on AMC and AMC+ on June 29 at at 9/8c. The show will air weekly before concluding with a two-episode season finlae on Aug. 17.
