Variety has confirmed that Disney+'s upcoming Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series has just rounded out its cast with three major new additions.
Those are Adam Copeland (Vikings), Suzanne Cryer (Silicon Valley), and Jessica Parker Kennedy (The Flash). They join the show's lead trio, Walker Scobell, Aryan Simhadri, and Leah Sava Jeffries.
Copeland will play Ares, the God of War. The character is described as "handsome in a wicked way and arrogant, despite not always being the sharpest tool in the shed. He loves conflict and acts as an agent of chaos wherever he goes."
Outside of his acting work, Copeland is known best as WWE Hall of Famer Edge. The Rated-R Superstar returned to the ring in 2020 and most recently faced Finn Balor in an "I Quit" match at Extreme Rules. He will presumably be taking some time off from WWE in order to shoot his role in Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
Cryer will guest star as Echidna, The Mother of Monsters. Her character is said to be "dangerous, intimidating, and strangely maternal. She enjoys her task of challenging heroes and will test Percy’s faith in the gods."
Finally, Kennedy (who you may remember best for her role as Nora West-Allen in The Flash), has been tapped to star as Medusa, the infamous gorgon. The description for this character reveals that she is "wronged by the gods and bitter. Medusa lives in isolation until travelers stumble on her emporium. She is welcoming to some and a threat to others."
Based on Disney Hyperion's best-selling book series, the series tells the fantastical story of a 12-year-old modern demigod, Percy Jackson, who's just coming to terms with his newfound divine powers when the sky god Zeus accuses him of stealing his master lightning bolt.
With help from his friends Grover and Annabeth, Percy must embark on an adventure of a lifetime to find it and restore order to Olympus.
