The Wheel of Time season 1 was a well-received high fantasy television series from Prime Video that's set to unleash its sophomore season on September 1.
Amazon was so pleased with the adaptation that they've already greenlit a third season, which is currently filming.
However, more than a few book purists were displeased with the adaptation due to a number of changes and omissions from the first season, which was based on The Eye of the World, the first novel in the 14-book fantasy series.
A new interview with Perrin actor Marcus Rutherford has revealed that one of those fan complaints will get resolved in season 2.
Rutherford began the interview by acknowledging that audiences didn't really get to learn much about the Two Rivers blacksmith as the show focused on establishing Rand al' Thor (Josha Stradowski) and Moraine Sedia (Rosamund Pike).
"I think what was quite cool about season 2 is that our characters are separated, and I think it just gives them a bit more time for our audiences to understand them,” Rutherford told Winter Is Coming.
“I think Perrin, especially in season 1, spent a lot of time like, obviously grieving, and especially with this sheer, overwhelming guilt. Which actually meant that we didn’t actually get to see so much about him and what he’s about."
Rutherford also touched on Perrin exploring more of his werewolf-like Wolfbrother abilities in season 2 and the appearance of a character that explained to Perrin how his powers worked.
"There’s characters from The Eye of the World, the first book, that have sort of come in in the second season. And I think they kind of warranted a really cool introduction,” Rutherford stated in a hint that's referring to Elyas Machera.
“I think they teach him a bit more about the wolf side, and about that side of his character, which is really cool. And yeah, I think he starts to teach him things about wolves and violence and stuff like that which is really nice."
Elyas Machera will be portrayed by South London actor Gary Beadle in season 2 of The Wheel of Time, which will drop 3 episodes at once when it premieres on September 1, on Prime Video.
