SNOW: Kit Harrington Makes It Clear Planned GAME OF THRONES Sequel Will Not Pick Up With A Happy Jon Snow

Game of Thrones star Kit Harrington has talked more about his plans for spin-off sequel series Snow, explaining where Jon's head is after the shocking decisions the hero made in the main show's finale...

The last time we saw Jon Snow in season 8 of Game of Thrones, he'd returned to the Night's Watch and left Westeros behind after killing Daenerys Targaryen.

A sequel series is now in the works, tentatively titled Snow, and there are lots of places that story could take the hero. Most interesting is the fact this would obviously be an original tale seeing as George R.R. Martin still hasn't finished his Song of Ice and Fire saga (never mind starting work on a follow-up).

Kit Harrington approached the author with this sequel idea and is clearly keen to continue telling Jon's story. During a recent convention appearance (via Entertainment Weekly), the actor even shed some light on where the warrior's head is likely to be at following the traumatic events of the Game of Thrones finale.

"At the end of the show when we find him in that cell, he’s preparing to be beheaded and he wants to be," Harrington explained. "He’s done. The fact he goes to the Wall is the greatest gift and also the greatest curse."

"He’s got to go back up to the place with all this history and live out his life thinking about how he killed Dany, and live out his life thinking about Ygritte dying in his arms, and live out his life thinking about how he hung Olly, and live out his life thinking about all of this trauma, and that, that’s interesting."

Needless to say, we won't be following Jon beyond the Wall for some sort of happy ending, though there's always a chance he can find redemption. Harrington would add, "So I think where we leave him at the end of the show...we wanted some kind of little smile that things are okay. He’s not okay."

We've already seen a handful of Game of Thrones spin-offs fail to become a reality, so it will be interesting to see if Snow is among the shows that manage to make it past the finish line. However, if the success of House of the Dragon was any indication, fans remain heavily invested in this franchise even after the main show's divisive final season.

Are you excited to potentially spend more time with Harington's Jon Snow?

I'll check it out if it ever gets made, sure. But honestly the most interesting group of folks to me now with how GoT ended is King Bran's new small council. Any excuse really for more Tyrion & Bronn

he didn't "leave Westeros behind", Westeros is the continent he's still very much on. he left behind the 7 (or 6) kingdoms.
