The Wheel of Time returns to Prime Video for its second season on September 1 (tomorrow), and the review embargo has only just lifted.
This is not always a great sign, but so far, reviews have been (mostly) positive, and the fantasy show's sophomore run is currently sitting at a decent, if hardly magical, 63% on Rotten Tomatoes. It's worth noting that only 10 reviews have been counted so far, so this score is sure to fluctuate.
The first season of the Wheel of Time proved to be fairly divisive among fans of Robert Jordan's sprawling saga, but critics were won over (for the most part), and it earned an impressive 81% on the review aggregator.
This season will adapt what is generally considered one of the most popular novels in the series, The Great Hunt (though it's also expected to include elements of the third book, The Dragon Reborn).
In the season 1 finale, our heroes believed they were successful in vanquishing the Dark One (Josha Stradowski, but, as Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike) points out in the teaser, all they did was "set him free."
Now, Rand Al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) must attempt to come to terms with the fact that he is a lot more than just a "spoke on the wheel," and harness the immense power flowing through him if he hopes to save his friends - and the entire world - from a terrible fate.
Will you be tuning in for The Wheel of Time season 2? Let us know in the usual place.
Based on the best-selling Robert Jordan fantasy series, a humble farm boy, Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski, Gran Turismo), learns he is The Dragon Reborn—a dangerous figure from history destined to save the world … or break it. Desperate to protect him from the Dark One, an army of powerful sorceresses must reckon with his burgeoning power and encroaching madness. The Wheel of Time turns, and the Last Battle approaches. Though Rand thought he destroyed the Dark One, evil is not gone from the world. In Season Two, threats new and very old seek out the young friends from the Two Rivers, now scattered over the world. The woman who found and guided them is now powerless to help, and so they must find other sources of strength. In each other, or themselves. In the Light ... or the Dark.
