The three-episode premiere of The Wheel of Time season 2 is just around the corner and a new interview with Mat Cauthon actor Donal Finn has shed new light on what should be a pivotal scene for the young Two Rivers gambler.
Responding to an interview question about how the cast and crew helped welcome him to the show, Finn went on to tease a scene with Liandrin actress Kate Fleetwood, which was directed by Tom Napper.
"You feel really supported by a phenomenal amount of people that are there to want to make your as easy and as truthful as it can be. My first days on set were with Kate Fleetwood, who plays Liandrin and director Tom Napper, as well."
"Those were my first days on set and it just meant that we were looking after what just happened in the scenes, our connections to our characters, and the dynamic of what we both want. And that allowed it to not feel daunting and then everything else came with time. I feel lucky that my introduction was with Tom and Kate."
It's strongly hinted (but unconfirmed) from other interviews that Mat's link to the Shadar Logoth dagger will be cured in season 2 of the show, an event that actually did not occur until The Dragon Reborn, book 3 in the 14-book series.
Will Liandrin be part of the group of Aes Sedai that heal Mat? Originally, she was not part of the 10 Aes Sedai that undertook the task, although in the books, there were 2 unnamed Aes Sedai that participated in the ceremony. Perhaps season 2 will slide Liandrin into one of these unnamed slots?
Season 2 of The Wheel of Time will drop 3 episodes at once when it premieres on September 1, on Prime Video.
