God of War Ragnarok developer, Santa Monica Studio, has announced that the highly-anticipated sequel to 2018 Game of the Year-winner has reached the final stage of production.
Santa Monica Studio says in the following tweet (via Gamefragger): "We are thrilled to announce that #GodofWarRagnarok has gone gold! On behalf of SMS and all of our partners, thank you to the fans for supporting us over the course of development. We're almost to launch and can't wait for you to play on November 9!"
In video game terms, for those who aren't aware, a game "going gold" means that it has basically finished being made; development is all but complete, and all that's left is the final stretch to the game's release. In God of War Ragnarok's case, the game's release is in just over a month's time on November 9th, 2022. The sequel will be available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, though, Gamefragger notes that a PC port is almost inevitable.
PlayStation Studios Creative Arts, Valkyrie Entertainment, Bluepoint Games, Red Hot, Super Alloy, Jetpack Interactive, Super Genius, and Original Force all contributed to the development of God of War Ragnarok to varying degrees according to this announcement. It's certainly wholesome to see them all lined up together.
Similar to this announement, ahead of the game's impending release, the Entertainment Software Ratings Board (more efficiently known as the ESRB) recently revealed that the game has been rated "M for Mature" due to its violent action and vulgar language (including even a few F-bombs). Find out more about that here.
