God of War Ragnarok, the sequel to 2018's Game of the Year, will be launching for both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on November 9th, 2022 - just over a month from now!
The ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) has announced their official rating for the upcoming video game sequel, and with it shared a detailed summary which includes some tantalising new information.
God of War Ragnarok has been rated "Mature" by the ESRB, an "M" in the United States and an "18" in Europe. It isn't all too surprising given that 2018's God of War was also given this content rating.
The rating summary published by the ESRB declares that God of War Ragnarok includes some fantasy creatures, such as centaurs, trolls, and dragons, not unlike the first game.
Additionally, the upcoming video game sequel will see the return of not only Kratos' hefty Leviathan axe, but also his Blades of Chaos. With these weapons, the player can literally decimate enemies, at least going by the mention of decapitation and dismemberment in the summary. What's more, it seems that Kratos or perhaps even his nemesis this time around, Thor, will be dropping some F-bombs.
Check out the full content rating summary from the ESRB below (via Gamefragger):
This is an action-adventure game in which players help Kratos and his son on a dangerous quest. Players explore various realms and engage in frenetic hand-to-hand combat against human-like raiders and fantastical creatures (e.g., centaurs, trolls, dragons). Players use axes and chained blades to battle enemies, often resulting in large blood-splatter effects and dismemberment. Players can perform finishing attacks that depict close-up impalement via bladed and hand-held weapons; repeated axe strikes to a creature's neck results in decapitation. The words “f**k” and “sh*t” are heard in the game.
