There's a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake, but we recently got some disappointing news about the game. Said to be in "serious trouble" after some big changes behind the scenes at Aspyr Media, it looked like that might be it for the long-awaited title.
The remake of the 2003 hit was first announced last September and has been in development for nearly three years. However, there was chatter for some time before that about a potential re-release, so it feels like this has been on the way for forever.
With it being reported that the game has been indefinitely delayed, Star Wars fans have expressed concerns this remastered Knights of the Old Republic might never see the light of day, but a positive update has now thankfully found its way online.
Embracer Group (via Eurogamer) recently published its Q1 interim report, confirming that one of its AAA games has been moved to another studio within its group to ensure "the quality bar is where we need it to be for the title.”
While the title of that game isn't mentioned, common sense says it's the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic remake. Interestingly, it's noted that the company is "not expecting any material delays for the title based on this transition," thereby contradicting reports of a lengthy delay.
Saber Interactive started assisting Aspyre back in May, so we'd bet on them taking charge of the game.
In Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, the story takes place almost 4,000 years before the formation of the Galactic Empire, where Darth Malak, a Dark Lord of the Sith, has unleashed a Sith armada against the Galactic Republic. The player character, as a Jedi, must venture to different planets in the galaxy to defeat Malak.
