Star Trek: Lower Decks will be back for a new season, beginning on September 7 on Paramount+. The show's third season consisted of 10 episodes and saw the crew of the Cerritos save their ship from being swapped out for a new model with a sentient and corrupt AI in the season finale.

Lower Decks focuses on the missions and adventures of the "lower deckers," low-ranking officers with menial jobs, as opposed to the previous Star Trek series, in which the starship captain or other senior staff are typically the main characters. The captain and other senior staff only appear as supporting characters.

Showrunner Mike McMahan previously teased, " I think it’s our best season yet. It’s our funniest. It’s our most dramatic. It’s our most T’Lyn-filled. I’m just loving it. There’s an amazing episode where we go to Orion, which I have been dying to do for so long."

McMahan also teased, "In season 4 you will see more Peanut Hamper… I don’t think she will ever get another full standalone Peanut Hamper-style episode, but you get a really fun good Peanut Hamper story in season 4."

The series features the voices of Tawny Newsome (Brockmire) as Beckett Mariner, Jack Quaid (The Boys) as Brad Boimler, Noël Wells (Saturday Night Live) as D'Vana Tendi, Eugene Cordero (Loki, Kong: Skull Island) as Sam Rutherford, Dawnn Lewis (A Different World) as Carol Freeman, Jerry O'Connell (Sliders,  Piranha 3D) as Jack Ransom, Fred Tatasciore (The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, Gears of War) as Shaxs, and Gillian Vigman (MADtv, New Girl) as T'Ana.

Lower Decks' most infamous episode is probably its season 2 crossover with Brave New Worlds, which mixed animation and live-action.

Season 5 has already been ordered by Paramount.

Boldly going where no man has gone before, but lower. Star Trek: Lower Decks is a half-hour animated comedy which focuses on the support crew who serve on one of Starfleet’s least important ships.

Star Trek: Lower Decks Season 4 is set to premiere on Paramount+ with two episodes on September 7th. Get a glimpse at the crew of the Cerritos' journey so far, and check out the wacky new adventures they'll be chasing in the new season. This Star Trek: Lower Decks trailer highlights Jack Quaid's Boimler,  Tawny Newsome's Mariner, and the rest of the Lower Decks crew as their misadventures continue to spin out of control on the USS Cerritos. Will Boimler get that promotion? Will the crew wreak havoc on Voyager? Who's to say, really?
