We're only halfway through Star Trek: Starfleet Academy's inaugural season and already people are talking about the second season. Paramount+ actually renewed the series back in October 2024, well before Starfleet Academy even premiered, and with production already underway and filming just about wrapped up, the cast of the show recently provided a hint of what fans can look forward to.

Sitting down with Collider for an interview following the premiere of Season 1, Episode 5, "Series Acclimation Mil," Starfleet Academy stars Kerrice Brooks (SAM), George Hawkins (Darem Reymi), and Sandro Rosta (Caleb Mir) were asked what fans could expect from Season 2. None of the actors shared any specific details, but they did confirm their favorite episodes in the upcoming season.

"Oh man, Episode 4 for me, for sure," answered Hawkins, which was backed by Brooks, saying, "Oh, yeah, [Episode] 4 is iconic."

Brooks went on to elaborate that there's another episode in Season 2 that pushed her to the brink, both personally and professionally. She teased:

"It's a tie, and they're my favorite for very, very different reasons. I would say Episode 5 because it pushed me to my absolute traumatic limits. I found out exactly who I was filming this Episode 5. [...] I found out what I can and can't take. I found out what I need to just shut up and push for. I found out a lot about myself as an individual, not even as an artist. And then I would say Episode 1, just because of all the stunt work. That was lit."

Rosta explained that it's a bit hard for him to remember some of the episodes, since his brain is currently focused on Episodes 9 and 10, which are about to film; however, he did eventually settle on Episode 6 as his favorite.

"Honestly, I'd say [Episode] 5, too… No, I'm taking it back. Number six. Number six, for sure. Episode 6," Rosta confirmed. Funny enough, Episode 6 is also actress Zoe Steiner's favorite episode from Season 2, according to another interview Collider had with her earlier in the season. Steiner, of course, plays Tarima Sadal, a Betazoid cadet and Caleb Mir’s romantic interest who enrolls in the rival War College.

We've seen the budding romantic chemistry between Mir and Sadal briefly play out in moments on screen during Season 1, including witnessing their first kiss in Episode 5. The fact that both actors chose Episode 6 as their favorite suggests it could focus largely on their relationship.

Filming on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy Season 2 appears to be wrapping up. According to Rosta, they are about to film Episodes 9 and 10, marking the first pair of episodes they've filmed in order. A release date for Season 2 has not yet been announced, but we've still got five more episodes of Season 1 to enjoy.
