Paramount+ has shared the official teaser trailer for Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The big takeaway is the series will return this summer, though the streamer stopped short of providing an actual date.
Beyond that, the teaser confirms that Strange New Worlds Season 3 will consist of 10 new episodes. And again, it will take a bold and daring approach to its storytelling as episodes appear to tackle various genres.
There's a lot to unpack in the minute-long trailer which teases all sorts of adventurous hijinks that the series has become known for. I'm sure we all remember last season's musical episode, a franchise-first that left fans divided. While there's no musical episode in Season 3, there's certainly plenty of other fun genre hopping including a throwback episode to the 1960s, a rom-com, and an Agatha Christie-style murder mystery. But before we get to all of that, there's a crucial cliffhanger that must be addressed first.
"In Season 3, when we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike, they face the conclusion of Season 2's harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters' grit and resolve," the description teases.
It continues: "An exciting twist on classic Star Trek, Season 3 takes characters both new and beloved to new heights, and dives into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy, and mystery, with varying genres never before seen on any other Star Trek."
Join the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise as they discover new civilizations, test their resolve and dive into thrilling adventures.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds is a spin-off from Star Trek: Discovery and chronicles the years Captain Christopher Pike manned the helm of the U.S.S. Enterprise. The series stars Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One Una Chin-Riley, Ethan Peck as Spock, Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’An Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Erica Ortegas and Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M'Benga. It was recently confirmed that Season 3 will feature guest stars Cillian O'Sullivan (In From The Cold) as Dr. Roger Korby and Rhys Darby (Jumanji: The Next Level).
Season 2 of the hit series aired from June 2023 to August 2023 with the finale ending on a major cliffhanger. Fans have been waiting patiently as production on Season 3 had been delayed due to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes in 2023. Despite still waiting for Season 3, Paramount+ and CBS Studios have already confirmed the start of production on Season 4 of Strange New Worlds, which means the wait between seasons hopefully won't be as long.
