Season 3 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds isn't set to premiere on Paramount+ until July, but there's already hype about Season 4 following its early renewal announcement. Production on Season 4 has officially begun and we've already got our first set photo, courtesy of The Hamilton Spectator.

The Canadian newspaper recently reported Strange New Worlds Season 4 is currently filming in Hamilton, Ontario. The article was accompanied with a photo from the set at The Cotton Factory, where filming was done earlier this month.

Unfortunately, we don't really have any context to go with the photos but they do reveal a set that will seemingly take fans back in time. We see two pickup trucks from the 1930s donning signage with some sort of alien writing on it. The paper also reports that filming was done inside the building and its alleway and also employed spotlights, presuably for night shoots.

Without knowing anything about Season 4, especially since we haven't even seen Season 3 yet, it's anyones guess as to what any of this could be. The popular theory is some sort of time travel episode.

Star Trek is no stranger to playing with the rules of time and Strang New Worlds, in particular, has hhad multiple time travel episodes. The most notable was Season 2, Episode 7, "Those Old Scientists," which was a crossover between Strange New Worlds and the animated series Star Trek: Lower Decks.

The series also tackled time travel in its first season with the episode, "Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow," which followed Lieutenant La'an Noonien-Singh as she's transported to 21st-century Earth to prevent an attack that could alter humanity's future. While there, she encounters an alternate version of James T. Kirk, and together the embark on an adventure.

It will likely be quite some time before we learn anything of substance about Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The season is probably at least still over a year away.

In the meantime, the we're just weeks away from the premiere of Season 3, which will debut at at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival in June. Following its premiere, we'll have to wait a couple of more weeks for the show to return to Paramount+.

In season three of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, we reconnect with the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, still under the command of Captain Pike (Anson Mount), as they face the conclusion of season two’s harrowing encounter with the Gorn. But new life and civilizations await, including a villain that will test our characters’ grit and resolve. An exciting twist on classic Star Trek, season three takes characters both new and beloved, to new heights and dives into thrilling adventures of faith, duty, romance, comedy and mystery with varying genres never before seen on any other Star Trek.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 3 is scheduled to debut on Paramount+ on Thursday, July 17, in the United States. The first two episodes of the season will be immediately available, with new episodes dropping weekly on Thursdays. The season finale is scheduled for Thursday, September 11th.
