During the Star Trek panel at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, fans were treated to a sneak peek at what's to come in Season 4 of Strange New Worlds.
The series returned for its fourth season last week, and while its premiere episode was intriguing, it was just the tip of the iceberg. The sizzle trailer highlights the U.S.S. Enterprise's continued journey to strange new worlds, while the crew battles inner demons and external threats.
"Space is a beautiful thing," Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount) begins. "You just have to want to see it."

The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, led by Captain Christopher Pike, embarks on a series of thrilling and emotional adventures across the stars. On their journey, they will battle inner demons and external threats, encounter colorful new characters, reunite with familiar faces and confront terrifying aliens. Through it all, they strive to embrace a bright, hopeful future.
The line, "Savor the victory, move on from the defeat," is especially relevant following the premiere episode of Season 4. In Episode 1, "Valles Marineris," Captain Pike leads the crew into a stellar storm, sending the Enterprise back 65 million years. Without getting too into spoiler territory, Captain Pike makes a gut call that, while ultimately proving to be the right decision, results in an entire planet being destroyed and an entire species becoming extinct.
It was a heck of a first episode,and one that changed Star Trek's history forever. There's still nine more episodes to go, and we already know more strangeness awaits.
As previously teased, Season 4 will continue to take big swings with its storytelling, including episodes inspired by western (the premiere episode), horror, and disaster. Perhaps the boldest move is the episode that will be told with puppetry.
While Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 debuted with a perfect Rotten Tomatoes scores, it has since dropped a bit. It now sits at a 80%, which is still solid though considerably lower than the first three seasons of the show.
Strange New Worlds is confirmed to be ending with its fifth season, which has already been filmed. With Star Trek in limbo right now, Season 5 will only run for six episodes, but it will at least allow the creative team to properly wrap up Captain Pike's story and bridge the series toward the beginning of Star Trek: The Original Series.
