Following the release of an epic new trailer yesterday, we now have a huge gallery of stills from Ahsoka

Primarily highlighting moments from that sneak peek, the official descriptions accompanying each of them reveal the identity of the mysterious Sith Inquisitor who targets Ahsoka Tano. Played by stuntman Paul Darnell (who doubled for Timothy Olyphant in The Mandalorian), the character is named Marrok.

Unfortunately, there's no one from Star Wars canon who shared that moniker, so we have to believe the antagonist has been newly created for the Disney+ series. Why there are still Inquisitors after the deaths of Emperor Palpatine and Darth Vader is a mystery, but it's not as if they'd have just vanished!

We also have a hi-res shot of Lars Mikkelsen's Grand Admiral Thrawn and the various other heroes and villains who will take centre stage in Ahsoka.

The latest footage from the show left us with more questions than answers, though it's clear this series will be among the most important post-Return of the Jedi stories Lucasfilm has told. If you're at all familiar with Thrawn's Expanded Universe machinations, you'll know what we're talking about!

Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi Knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.

In addition to Rosario Dawson in the title role, the series stars Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, the late Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati, Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, David Tennant as Huyang, Lars Mikkelsen as Grand Admiral Thrawn, and Eman Esfandi appearing as Ezra Bridger.

Ahsoka was written by Dave Filoni, who executive produces alongside Jon Favreau, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, and Carrie Beck. Directors include Filoni, Steph Green, Peter Ramsey, Jennifer Getzinger, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Rick Famuyiwa.

Ahsoka will launch exclusively on Disney+ on August 23 with a two-episode premiere.
