Obi-Wan Kenobi didn't disappoint, revealing his first meeting with Princess Leia, the Jedi Master's rematch with Darth Vader, and how "Ben" reconnected with the Force following the horrific events of Order 66.
The series ended with another decade to go before the events of A New Hope, and there's every chance Obi-Wan went on additional adventures during that time. Heck, he may have even crossed paths with the Sith Lord again.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Obi-Wan Kenobi director Deborah Chow confirmed star Ewan McGregor has been pushing for a second season ever since cameras stopped rolling on the Disney+ series.
"[As] Ewan and I finished our very last shot on second unit and I was literally taking off my headphones, he was already pitching me ideas for season two," the filmmaker recalls. "There’s another 10 years with plenty of stories, and I don’t think it’s off the board. It is a “never say never” situation, but we really did conceive this to be a limited series."
It's hard to imagine Lucasfilm not eventually moving forward with a second batch of episodes, and Chow went on to share her thoughts on the recent resurgence of both the Star Wars prequels and Anakin Skywalker actor Hayden Christensen.
"When we made the announcement that we were bringing back Hayden, that prequel generation became very clear all of a sudden. They loved the prequels, and Hayden was their guy. It was lovely, honestly, to work on something that was for a different generation of Star Wars fans."
"A lot of the actors have [been subject to] a lot of scrutiny over their roles. Having Hayden come out the other side and see the love for both him and his character, it was one of the most gratifying things. Honestly, I wouldn’t have felt good if he didn’t have a good experience on this."
Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has been resolute when it comes to Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 not currently being in the works, while Disney CEO Bob Iger has suggested the studio will soon cut back on making Star Wars content for Disney+.
If that leads to an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, though, then it will be no bad thing...
