Earlier this week, a now-deleted Tweet from a Disney+ executive appeared to confirm that Obi-Wan Kenobi will premiere on Disney+ this May. That's been the rumoured release month for a while now, and common sense says the highly anticipated Star Wars series will follow Moon Knight as the next big draw on the streaming service (Disney doesn't like these shows to clash, it seems).
Well, The Hollywood Reporter just weighed in, stating: "Our own sourcing corroborates the rumor, but it's not official until it's official." So, yeah, Obi-Wan Kenobi is coming our way in May!
The question is, when? Well, if Moon Knight is six episodes, it won't conclude until May 4. However, if Marvel Studios pulls a Hawkeye by delivering a two-episode premiere, it would wrap up the prior Wednesday and allow Lucasfilm to quite appropriately launch Obi-Wan Kenobi on "Star Wars Day."
"The story begins 10 years after the dramatic events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith where Kenobi faced his greatest defeat," reads the Obi-Wan Kenobi synopsis, "the downfall and corruption of his best friend and Jedi apprentice, Anakin Skywalker turned evil Sith Lord Darth Vader."
The cast includes Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, Rupert Friend, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, and Benny Safdie. Unfortunately, aside from the obvious, we don't know who everyone is playing!
Keep checking back here for the latest on Obi-Wan Kenobi as we have it.
