Yesterday, Studio Ghibli sent speculation into overdrive by Tweeting out a brief video hinting at a collaboration with Lucasfilm. Now, the renowned Japanese animation house has seemingly revealed all.
This second Tweet features a photo of The Mandalorian's Grogu with legendary director and Studio Ghibli co-sounder Hayao Miyazaki just out of focus in the background.
This may have served as another fairly vague hint if the Italian Disney+ account hadn't recently sent out a since-deleted Tweet revealing that a short film featuring "Baby Yoda" is set to premiere on November 12!
We don't know a thing about the short aside from its title, Grogu and the Dust Bunnies, but now that the Ghibli connection is apparent, we assume said Dust Bunnies will actually be the adorable little Susuwatari, or "Soot Gremlins," that appeared in the likes of My Neighbor Tortoro and Spirited Away.
If the initial date reveal was accurate, the short is set to debut on Disney+ tomorrow, so we won't have too long to wait to find out more!
Studio Ghibli was formed in 1985, and has gone on to become one of the most well-regarded studios in the world. Five of its films are among Japan's ten highest-grossing anime features of all time, some of which have also received Academy Award nominations
