STAR WARS: None Of Luke Skywalker's Lines In THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Were Recorded By Mark Hamill!

This is crazy, but it's been revealed that Mark Hamill didn't return to record any of Luke Skywalker's dialogue during the Jedi Knight's memorable return in the penultimate episode of The Book of Boba Fett.

In The Book of Boba Fett's penultimate episode, Luke Skywalker took centre stage while training Grogu. The technology used to de-age Mark Hamill had definitely improved since The Mandalorian's season 2 finale, but did you know that wasn't actually the actor's voice during his latest appearance?

Variety explains that Ukrainian company Respeecher created Luke's younger voice, using only old recordings to create a synthesized version of the legendary actor's vocals.

"We heard recordings from 30 to 40 years ago, and those recordings were not good," Alex Serdiuk, the company’s co-founder and co-CEO, told the trade. As a result, they turned to old ADR sessions, video games, and audiobooks to find what they needed, fed that into the Respeecher app and ended up with an artificial version of Hamill and Luke's voice they could use in the show.

"Our technology applies a digital voice skin, digital vocal apparatus of that particular performance, and that gives content creators and moviemakers that full content over how it should sound and even inflections," he explains. "If a director wants a voice sounding specific, we can tweak our models to meet those expectations. Our technology is very disruptive."

It's actually a little scary to think about how amazing this technology has become, and it might not be too much longer before we get a movie or TV show featuring younger versions of Luke, Han, and Leia without the original actors who are indistinguishable from the real thing. Crazy, right?

The end result sounded stiff and lifeless. They should have just gotten good impersonator. Even if the voice wasn't a perfect match, a better performance would have made it worth it.

@FinnishDude - They should’ve just hired an actor period. All this deep fake synthesized stuff is a neat experiment, and I’m sure it’ll only continue to improve in the future, but it’s currently no match for a real performance by a real actor. I imagine it never will be. If they keep bringing young Luke back I really hope they just bite that bullet already. I know people didn’t really seem to take to the recast Han Solo, but I heard lots of good stuff about Donald Glover’s Lando. You just gotta cast the right person.

Mark Hamill sounds a lot different than he did when he was younger. His voice is a little more raspy, so I don't blame them for having them use a voice replicator record the lines.

They need to receive an Emmy award for that special effects/CGI with that Luke/Mark Hamill scene with Grogu's training, MUCH better than the first debut and almost impossible to actually see the effects at some points. INCREDIBLE work!!!
