According to a new report from The Ankler, rumour has it that the Emmy-winning of the Watchmen TV show, Lost, and The Leftovers, Damon Lindelof, is working on a Star Wars movie for Lucasfilm.
There's no word on what the project is about, whether there's a co-writer, or even if a director is being eyed for the project. However, Lindelof hasn't been shy about expressing his interest in the Star Wars franchise in past interviews and he does feel like a good fit for the iconic franchise.
He's no stranger to space-set adventures, anyway, as he's worked on everything from Star Trek Into Darkness to Prometheus and Cowboys & Aliens.
Despite finding great success on Disney+ with TV shows like The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, Lucasfilm is still struggling to crack this Galaxy Far, Far Away on the big screen. Patty Jenkins' Rogue Squadron movie has been hit by delays and is seemingly stuck in limbo, while it's been a long time since we've received a concrete update on the projects coming our way from the likes of Taika Waititi, Kevin Feige, and J.D. Dillard (Rian Johnson's trilogy seems to be completely M.I.A.).
We'll see what happens with this rumoured movie from Lindelof as there's every chance he's just batting around ideas with the studio. There hasn't actually been a Star Wars story on the big screen since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, so fingers crossed something changes sooner rather than later.
Stay tuned for updates.
