Ahead of the Quantum Leap reboot/sequel series' October premiere, it has been revealed that two new additions have joined the sci-fi series as regulars.
Peter Gadiot and Eliza Taylor will be joining returning series stars Raymond Lee (Dr. Ben Seong), Caitlin Bassett (Addison Augustine), Ernie Hudson (Herbert "Magic" Williams), Mason Alexander Park (Ian Wright), and Nanrisa Lee (Jenn Chou).
NBC revealed that Taylor will play Hannah Carson, a "complex young woman, who may be more than she appears."
Gadiot will portray Tom Westfall, an ex, high-ranking special forces soldier for US Army Intelligence. "Thoughtful, centered, a spiritual kind of warrior who both men and women admire, but whose humility keeps him from ever being arrogant. Tom will take on a crucial role overseeing the project."
In the revival, a new crew must begin the mysterious time-traveling experiment 30 years after Dr. Sam Beckett entered the accelerator and vanished, according to the Quantum Leap sequel series. Dr. Ben Song, an exceptionally gifted scientist who strives to unravel the mystery of the Quantum Leap project and return Sam to his family, is the team's leader.
The follow-up series will also delve into the moral and ethical ramifications of time travel, in addition to the human sacrifices that the group must make to complete their task.
While original Sam Beckett actor Scott Bakula has only appeared in the show using archival footage, Bakula previously told fans on social media that he won't be filming any new scenes for the show, at least not in season 1. With a season 2 renewal, fans of the original '90s series are hoping that Bakula has reconsidered.
On September 19, 2022, NBC broadcast the debut of the sequel series, which was later given a second season order. The premiere of the second season is set for October 4, 2023.
Aaron Abrams (Hannibal), Francois Arnaud (Blindspot), Melissa Roxburgh (Manifest), and P.J. Byrne (The Boys) have all been confirmed to make guest appearances in Quantum Leap's second season.
The complete first season of the Quantum Leap sequel series, which consists of 18 episodes, is currently available for streaming on Peacock. The service also offers the venerable 1990s Quantum Leap series, as well.
Everything changes, however, when Ben makes an unauthorized leap into the past, leaving the team behind to solve the mystery of why he did it. At Ben's side throughout his leaps is Addison (Caitlin Bassett), a decorated Army veteran who appears in the form of a hologram only Ben can see and hear.
Herbert "Magic" Williams (Ernie Hudson) helms the highly confidential operation whose team at headquarters includes Ian Wright (Mason Alexander Park) and Jenn Chou (Nanrisa Lee).
