We didn't expect to see Jack Gleeson on screen again after he decided to switch careers following his stint as Joffrey Baratheon on HBO's Game of Thrones, but it seems the acting bug has returned, as Gleeson is set to appear in Nicolas Winding Refn's BBC adaptation of The Famous Five.
Gleeson will play a character named Wentworth, and based on the first-look image below, this guy is going to be every bit as vile and treacherous as Joffrey.
Gleeson will be joined by Diaana Babnicova as George, Elliott Rose as Julian, Kit Rakusen as Dick, and Flora Jacoby Richardson as Anne, along with a bearded Collie cross named Kip Timmy the dog!
Other cast members include Moon Knight's Ann Akinjirin as Fanny, Ted Lasso's James Lance as Quentin, and Father Brown's Diana Quick as Mrs Wentworth.
Speaking about the cast, episode one director and executive producer Tim Kirkby said: "Our brilliant young cast are mind-blowingly talented and, along with Kip (playing Timmy), they are already bringing these gorgeous characters to life in a fresh and modern way."
He added: "Together with the brilliant Jack, Ann, James and Diana, we can’t wait to bring these glorious, action-filled, epic family adventures to the screen.”
Filming has already begun across the South West of the UK, and the series will consist of three 90-minute episodes to be aired at an as yet unannounced date.
