While it's been nothing but a string of disappointing news for Star Trek these past couple of weeks, fans finally got a bit of a reprieve this weekend when Paramount+ finally revelaed the release date for Strange New Worlds Season 4.

Announcing at CCXP Mexico on Saturday, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4 will officially premiere on July 23 on Paramount+. The 10-episode season will roll out new episodes weekly on Thursdays through September 24.

Strange New Worlds castmembers Paul Wesley (James T. Kirk), Celia Rose Gooding (Uhura), Rebecca Romijn (Una Chin Riley), and Ethan Peck (Spock). were on hand during the Star Trek panel, which also includd a new teaser trailer for the upcoming season. While only a minute in length, it looks like a return to form for Strange New Worlds which went a bit off the rails in Season 3. There's a certain sense of thrilling wonder and hopeful optimism present in the trailer, which ends with Wesley's James T. Kirk declaring, "Let's boldly go."

The crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise, led by Captain Christopher Pike, embarks on a series of thrilling and emotional adventures across the stars. On their journey, they will battle inner demons and external threats, encounter colorful new characters, reunite with familiar faces and confront terrifying aliens. Through it all, they strive to embrace a bright, hopeful future.

“We’re so proud of this show, and we’re really proud of season four — and season five. We really think it’s our best season yet," Romijn said of what will officially be the final two seasons of the show. In June of last year, Paramount+ greenlit Strange New Worlds for a truncated fifth season, which the streamer confirmed will serve as the series' finale.

As Strange New Worlds sails toward its conclusion, the series appears to be shifting some of its focus onto James T. Kirk. Several episodes in the series have already centered on the character, and Wesley has hinted that Season 4 will continue that exploration, teasing that the show will delve into Kirk's past and the demons that haunt him.

With the series ending after Season 5, which has already wrapped production, the franchise's television future remains uncertain. Fans had hoped for a spin-off called Year One that would follow Wesley's Kirk through his first year commanding the Enterprise alongside the legacy crew, but that prospect now seems unlikely following confirmation that CBS Studios has torn down the sets for both Strange New Worlds and Discovery.

For now, we can look forward to Season 4 of Strange New Worlds debuting in July, followed by a six-episode fifth and final season that does not yet have a premiere date.
