Something tells us a lot of fans aren't going to be happy about this.

Today's episode of Ahsoka, "Fallen Jedi," finally revealed the truth about Marrok but it wasn't what any of us were expecting. The villain wields the lightsaber of a Sith Inquisitor and his face has been kept hidden from the start, spawning all manner of fan theories.

We finally heard him speak last Tuesday, but his voice was heavily modulated, with stuntman Paul Darnell still the only actor credited with playing him. Despite that, many fans have been left convinced it's either Sam Witwer's Starkiller beneath the rusted helmet or, more likely, a corrupted Ezra Bridger.

Either option would have been an equal mix of compelling and confusing, but the truth is Marrok is...well, he's just Marrok.

In an epic lightsaber duel on Seatos, Ahsoka does battle with the mysterious villain and eventually manages to outsmart him. Running her lightsaber through Marrok's midsection, the former Jedi quite clearly kills him and it's then we see a burst of green dust-like energy erupt from his wound with what - sort of - sounds like a scream.

As of now, we're not 100% sure what this means but we'd bet on Morgan Elsbeth and her Nightsister magic having something to do with it as that same green energy was seen in The Clone Wars to resurrect the dead. There have been rumblings this series will feature an undead army, and it seems Marrok's rusted armour was indeed housing little more than a spirit.

Interestingly, this reveal also appears to contradict a StarWars.com character bio that reads, "Once an Inquisitor hunting Jedi for the Empire, the mysterious Marrok now works as a mercenary hired by Morgan Elsbeth to carry out dark deeds. Fully encased in battered battle armor, the warrior still carries a red double-bladed saber with a circular hilt."

Then again, it's possible Marrok was once one of the Emperor's many Inquisitors, raised from the dead by Elsbeth to serve her alongside fallen Jedi Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati.

Talking of Shin, she ends up squaring off with Sabine Wren and it's all but confirmed that the Mandalorian has absolutely zero connection to the Force when she tries and fails to use it on her opponent. This was to be expected and, short of a huge twist, we don't think she'll end up becoming a Jedi.

Now we've reached the halfway point, Ahsoka is definitely starting to take shape and we can finally be free of that endless Marrok speculation to ponder what comes next after that big cliffhanger.
