The end to Stranger Things may have been delayed due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes but with deals in place with the AMPTP, it's time to restart the final countdown.

The first few seasons of Stranger Things dealt with the discovery of a dark and mysterious parallel dimension called the Upside Down and the malevolent creatures that live there. Later seasons dealt with a particular entity that resides in the Upside Down who has a specific bone to pick with the residents of Hawkins, Indiana.

Filming on season 5 is expected to get underway very shortly as the finale season of the beloved sci-fi drama is said to be a high priority for Netflix.

While at Motor City Comic Con, Harbour answered a cute question from a young who inquired about season 6, apparently unaware that the show was set to end.

Said Harbour, "The beauty of it is there’s a real ending — things will end in a very real way...The storyline of Stranger Things, from where we started with the Upside Down and that lab, to where we’re going in season 5 is one complete story, and it’s gonna end at the final episode of season 5."

However, while season 5 will be the end of the franchise's flagship show, there are a number of spinoffs in the works.

"Netflix is going to do spinoffs, in various directions. There's a play going on, [Stranger Things: The First Shadow] in London. There's various ways they can use the storyline," stated Harbour to the young fan in the audience.

Netflix is rumored to be developing a spinoff series titled Stranger Things: Tokyo and there's also a western animation series in development from  Flying Bark Productions.

On the animated series, The Duffer Brothers stated, "We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with — the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues…"

A live-action spinoff television series has also been confirmed which the Duffer Brothers have stated will be "very, very different" from the show that's currently heading towards its Netflix finale.

Development on the live-action series appears to be in the very early stages as the sibling duo confirmed.

"We think everyone — including Netflix — will be surprised when they hear the concept, because it’s very, very different. But somehow Finn Wolfhard — who is one crazy smart kid — correctly guessed what it was going to be about. But aside from Finn, no one else knows!"
