Could Hugh Grant board The Tardis as the latest incarnation of the iconic Time Lord for the next series of The BBC's Doctor Who?
Showrunner Russell T. Davies is returning to take charge of the long-running sci-fi series for its 60th anniversary in 2023, and The Mirror (yes, we know) claims that Davis has enlisted the Paddington 2 actor to “bring a fresh feel” to the role.
One insider says: "[Grant] offers many attributes – great actor, British, award-winning, Hollywood A-lister and excellent at comedy. Conversations are in progress. The vision is that the show can be a Marvel-like product, building franchises around the Doctor and other key characters in his many lives.”
This wouldn't be Grant's first brush with The Doctor, as he played the role for a Comic Relief sketch back in 1999. He also worked with Davis on 2018's A Very English Scandal, picking up a BAFTA nomination for his portrayal of politician Jeremy Thorpe.
The source may be a little sketchy, but we should note that they have broken some solid Doctor Who-related news in the past, so this is definitely worth keeping an eye on.
