Since announcing intentions for a Fallout TV program in 2020, updates on the project from Prime Video have been scarce, with the exception of a still from the pilot revealed last October.
Prime Video recently confirmed that the series will be released sometime in 2024. A teaser trailer for the series was shown at the end of Bethesda's Starfield presentation at Gamescom in Germany but Amazon has told media that it won't publicly be released (however, the trailer did leak on social media).
The preview allegedly showed Brotherhood of Steel warriors marching and a gunfight in a town that possessed Fallout's characteristic Old-West architecture.
Kilter Films is in charge of production, and executive producers include Jonathan Nolan (Westworld), Lisa Joy (Burn Notice, Westworld), and Athena Wickham, as well as Bethesda's Todd Howard and James Altman.
The showrunners are Graham Wagner (Silicon Valley) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel, Tomb Raider).
Set in the aftermath of a nuclear war, the show will follow the stories of several survivors as they attempt to start over in a post-apocalyptic world.
The series is confirmed to star Walton Goggins (Justified), Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets, Arcane), Kyle MacLachlan (Twin Peaks, Dune 1984), Xelia Mendes-Jones (The Wheel of Time), Aaron Moten (Native Son, Emancipation), and Mike Doyle (Law & Order: SVU).
The Fallout video game series is well-known for its open-world gameplay, in-depth narratives, and endearing characters. With more than 50 million copies sold globally, the series has also been successful on the gaming side.
Amazon is definitely hoping to channel some of that success in its television adaptation.
