An X-Files reboot has been in and out of development for several years at this stage, and original series' creator Chris Carter has now claimed that a new show based on the classic sci-fi drama is in-development - with Ryan Coogler on board!
During an interview with On The Coast With Gloria Macarenko, Carter revealed that the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever director was set to "remount" The X-Files.
"I just spoke to a young man - Ryan Coogler - who is going to remount The X-Files with a diverse cast," he said. "So he's got his work cut out for him, because we covered so much territory."
The X-Files originally aired on Fox from 1993-2001, before being revived at the network for two more seasons in 2016 and 2018. The show starred David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully, who found themselves investigating strange, unexplained and usually supernatural or extraterrestrial cases.
Details are few and far between, but it's assumed that Coogler would develop (and possibly direct) the project under his five-year overall deal with Walt Disney Television, of with 20th Century TV is a part.
