With Star Trek: Starfleet Academy wrapping up its first season this past week, we're now without a weekly Star Trek show for at least the next couple of months. We already know next on deck is Season 4 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.

Paramount has yet to announce when Strange New Worlds Season 4 will premiere, but co-showrunner Henry Alonso Myers provided fans with a production update at the Saturn Awards. Speaking to TrekMovie, Myers acknowledged there are still months of work left to do, but estimated Season 4 will be out by late summer.

"I’m literally still working on season 4 as well as season 5 right now, so it doesn’t feel like — we wrapped photography, but we’ll be working on post and editorial and sound and score and all that stuff for another six to ten months," Myers said. "We’ll still be working on [season 5] when you get to see season 4.”

Although Myers couldn't provide an exact date, he did seem confident it would arrive this year, possibly "late summer."

“I can say, [season 4 will arrive] sometime later this year," he continued. "We’ve been very consistent in the time of year when we come out and we’re going to be consistent again this year. We’ve been told a window, so that’s where we’re going to be, I would say late summer, but take that as a guess and not really a locked date.”

The six-month mark from now would land sometime in September, which sort of falls within the late summer window. But again, there's no confirmation that will be the case. For comparison, Season 3 debuted last summer on July 17, while Seasons 1 and 2 premiered in May 2022 and June 2023, respectively.

When asked if the release of Season 4 was more dependent on completing their work for Paramount+'s release calendar, Myers acknowledged, “It’s a little bit of both. It’s trying to deliver it so they can air it when that time is available.”

We got our first look at Strange New Worlds Season 4 last year, with the studio confirming the series’ experimental storytelling will continue. One teased episode will even portray the U.S.S. Enterprise crew as puppets created by the iconic Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

Later in the year, Paramount+ shared an exclusive clip from Season 4, which you can check out below:

One show. Infinite Adventures. Join the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise as they discover new civilizations, test their resolve and dive into thrilling adventures in the Paramount+ Original Series.

Paramount+ has already renewed Strange New Worlds for a fifth season, which will serve as the final one of the series. Season 5 will also be shorter than usual, with only six episodes.

What comes after Strange New Worlds has not yet been announced, although the series showrunners have already pitched a sequel series, Year One, that would follow Paul Wesley's James Kirk during his first year as Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise.
