About See
In the twenty-first century where a virus has decimated the population. There are fewer than two million people who managed to survive the virus, and all of their remote descendants have lost the ability to see. The events of See take place several centuries in the future, when society has developed new ways to interact socially, construct, hunt, and otherwise survive without sight. The idea of vision has been elevated to the status of a myth, and any discussion of it is regarded as heresy.
The knowledge of the old, sighted world has been lost or distorted, and humanity has reverted to societies that are more akin to those that existed during the middle ages or to primitive hunter-gatherer societies. Many people think that gods used supernatural means to fashion materials such as metal, concrete, and plastic. This belief is widespread.
A pregnant woman named Maghra makes her way into the mountains in search of the Alkenny tribe in order to seek refuge with them. Baba Voss, chief of the Alkenny people, is unable to have children of his own so he decides to marry her and adopt her children instead of trying to have children of his own. Their real father, Jerlamarel, is on the run from the Queen of the Payan kingdom because he is accused of practicing the heretical religion of "sighting" (the natural ability to see). The rumor that Jerlamarel is the father of children quickly spreads, which leads to a manhunt for Jerlamarel and his children. Against the Queen's army, Baba Voss is tasked with defending not only his family but also his tribe.
See is executive produced by Jonathan Tropper, along with Steven Knight, Francis Lawrence, Jenno Topping, Jim Rownin, Jennifer Yale, and Anders Engstrom. Jenno Topping, Jim Rownin, and Jennifer Yale also serve as executive producers on the show. Both Chernin Entertainment and Endeavor Content are responsible for producing the show.
